Ingredients

  • 180 g 1 cup Cooked Rice

  • 30 g 1 cup Spinach

  • 1 1 Garlic clove

  • 1/4 1/4 Small onion

  • 15 ml 1 tbsp Soy Sauce

  • 30 ml 2 tbsp Olive Oil

  • 1 1 large egg (optional)

  • Salt & Pepper

Equipment

  • large frying pan
  • Spatula
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Bowl

Directions

  • Begin by chopping the spinach, mincing the garlic, and finely chopping the onion. If you’re adding an egg, beat it lightly in a small bowl.
  • Heat the olive oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and chopped onion to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
  • Add the chopped spinach to the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until the spinach is wilted.
  • Stir in the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps. Mix well to combine the rice with the spinach and aromatics.
  • Add the soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir to evenly distribute the seasonings throughout the rice.
  • If using an egg, push the rice mixture to one side of the pan. Pour the beaten egg into the empty side and scramble it. Once cooked, mix it into the rice.
  • Once everything is well combined and heated through, remove the pan from the heat. Serve the spinach fried rice hot.

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider topping your spinach fried rice with some toasted sesame seeds or a drizzle of sesame oil. You can also add other vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, or peas to make the dish more colorful and nutritious.
