Ingredients

  • 150 g 5 2/7 oz Chickpeas

  • 10 ml 2/3 tbsp Olive oil

  • 1 1 Clove garlic

  • 1 g 1/2 tsp Ground cumin

  • 1 g 3/7 tsp Ground paprika

  • 1 g 1/2 tsp Ground turmeric

  • Salt & Black pepper

  • 5 g 1/6 oz Fresh parsley

Equipment

  • Frying pan
  • Wooden spoon
  • spoon
  • Cutting board
  • knife

Directions

  • Place a frying pan over medium heat and add the olive oil. Allow it to warm up for about 1 minute.
  • Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes until it becomes fragrant and lightly golden. Be careful not to burn it.
  • Pour the drained and rinsed chickpeas into the pan. Stir to coat them evenly with the garlic and oil.
  • Sprinkle the cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and black pepper over the chickpeas. Stir well to ensure that all the chickpeas are evenly coated with the spices.
  • Continue to sauté the chickpeas for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. You want the chickpeas to be golden and slightly crispy on the outside.
  • Remove the pan from the heat. If using, sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the chickpeas. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, let the chickpeas sit undisturbed in the pan for 1-2 minutes before stirring. This helps them develop a nice crust.

Can I use dried chickpeas instead of canned chickpeas?

Yes, you can use dried chickpeas, but you’ll need to cook them first. Soak them overnight, then boil until tender before proceeding with the recipe. This adds extra preparation time, but the result will be just as delicious.
