Ingrédients

  • 135 g 1 1/2 tasse graham cracker crumbs

  • 115 g 1/2 tasse beurre non salé

  • 170 g 1 tasse semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 170 g 1 tasse butterscotch chips

  • 80 g 1 tasse sweetened shredded coconut

  • 150 g 1 tasse noix hachées

  • 400 ml 13 1/2 fl oz lait concentré sucré

Equipement

  • 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking pan
  • Papier sulfurisé
  • Bol à mélanger
  • Spatule

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, or grease it with non-stick spray for easy removal.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs et melted butter. Stir until the crumbs are fully coated and resemble wet sand. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking pan to form the crust. Make sure it’s tightly packed to hold the layers together.
  • Evenly sprinkle the pépites de chocolat, butterscotch chips, noix hachéeset shredded coconut over the graham cracker crust. You can slightly press them down to ensure they’re even.
  • Slowly drizzle the entire can of lait concentré sucré over the top of the layered ingredients, making sure to cover as much of the surface as possible. This will bind everything together during baking.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set. The bars will firm up as they cool.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan (about 1–2 hours) before slicing. Once cool, lift the bars out using the parchment paper, and cut them into 12 squares or 16 smaller bars if you prefer.
  • These bars can be served at room temperature or chilled for a firmer texture.

Why are they called Seven Layer Bars?

Seven Layer Bars get their name from the layers of ingredients typically used: graham cracker crumbs, butter, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, shredded coconut, nuts, and sweetened condensed milk. These ingredients create seven distinct layers of flavor and texture.
