Ingredients

  • 4 4 matzo crackers

  • 225 g 225 unsalted butter

  • 200 g 200 packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 salt

  • 1 teaspoon 1 vanilla extract

  • 175 g 175 semisweet chocolate chips

  • 200 g 200 chopped nuts

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the matzo crackers in a single layer, breaking them as needed to fit.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil. Once boiling, continue to cook for 3 more minutes, stirring constantly, until the mixture is thickened and smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the matzo crackers on the baking sheet. Use a spatula to spread it out if necessary. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbling all over.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let sit for 5 minutes to melt, then use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate over the toffee.
