Ingredients

  • 3 3 ripe avocados

  • 1 1 lime

  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

  • 2 tablespoon 2 tablespoon finely chopped cilantro

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Spoon
  • Fork
  • Mixing bowl

Directions

  • Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium mixing bowl using a spoon.
  • Use a fork or potato masher to mash the avocados until you reach your preferred consistency. For chunky guacamole, leave some small avocado pieces intact; for smooth guacamole, mash thoroughly.
  • Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mashed avocado. Add ¼ teaspoon of sea salt. Stir the mixture well to combine all the ingredients.
  • Finely chop the cilantro and fold it into the guacamole. If you’re adding diced tomato for extra flavor, now’s the time to mix that in too.

Notes

  • For a spicy version, add finely chopped jalapeño or a pinch of cayenne pepper.

Can I make guacamole ahead of time?

Yes! You can make guacamole a few hours ahead of time, but to keep it fresh and prevent browning, store it in an airtight container. For best results, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to limit air exposure. Adding extra lime juice can also help maintain its vibrant green color.
